You can create a real estate website for FREE, and You can do it within the next 30 Minutes.
Read on if you’ve always wanted to create a website for your real estate business and postponed it for lack of time, technical know-how, or budget.
Click the below link to see a sample website I created within 30 minutes. I used the FREE Google Blogger platform to make the blog look like a website. All you need is a Google/Gmail account. You don’t have to pay for the hosting or the domain – unless you want a custom domain.

How to Create a Real Estate Website?
Step 1: Go to blogger.com on your web browser and log in with your Google/Gmail account. Then, click ‘New Blog’.
Step 2: Enter a URL (web address) for your new website. By default blogger will assign a free yourname.blogspot.com domain. But you can change this to any top-level domain (.com, .net, etc.) later from the settings.
Note: yourname.blogspot.com domain from Google is free forever. But if you buy a custom domain (yourname.com, etc.) from a domain name provider like GoDaddy or NameCheap, you may have to pay that service provider a small amount yearly to associate and redirect that domain to Google Blogger.
Step 3: Once you enter the website address and a name for the website, you’ll land in the Dashboard. As shown on the left-hand side of the above picture, there are a number of options in the dashboard. First, click on ‘Theme’, select, and apply the Emporio Apron theme.
Note: You can select any of the other free themes too. For this tutorial, I selected this theme. Also, there are a number of third-party theme developers who offer better free and paid themes for Blogger. Do a Google search and you’ll find many theme options from which you can select and upload one.
Step 4: Next, let’s create some pages for our website. Click on the ‘Pages’ tab on the left side. The above screenshot shows the two pages I created for this website, but yours will be empty. Click on the ‘+ New Page’ button on the top left. You’ll then be taken to a Page Editor interface shown below.
This is the Page Editor interface. First, you’ll need to give a title to your page. My page shown above is titled ‘About Me’ which you can see in the top left corner. Then you can type any text you want in the editor interface below. You can also upload media like images, embed your real estate videos hosted on Youtube, etc. to your page.
Above, you can see I uploaded a photo and wrote some sample text. Explore the buttons on the top of the editor to see what else you can do here. If you’ve used MS Word or any Word Processor, you’ll be familiar with those buttons.
Once you finish adding the various elements to your page, click on ‘Publish’ in the top right corner. My button says ‘Update’ because I had already published this page, otherwise it’ll say publish. Once you do that, your first page will be published on the website!
I have added two pages to this sample site, you can add any number you want. Now let’s make the page titles appear as links on the top bar below the header. For that, you’ll have to select ‘Layout’ from the Dashboard.
Step 5: Here is how the ‘Layout’ section looks. With the Layout, you can customize the look of your website – which element appears where and how. On the top, you can see the Header. In our case, it’s just the title of the site, so we need not change it. You can also upload and use a header image instead of the text.
Below that, you’ll find ‘Page List (top)’. Click on the ‘Pen’ icon on the right corner of the Pages bar.
When you click it, you’ll find this Configure Page List box. Initially, you’ll have to click ‘Add a New Item’ on the bottom right to get all your pages inside this list. You’ll have to manually select each page you want on the homepage menu.
Since I selected my two pages, they appear as shown below. You can then reposition each page in the order you want them to appear on the website by clicking the up and down arrows shown next to each of them. Once you are finished with this, click ‘Save’ on the bottom right.
This is how the links to your pages look from the homepage once you finish the above steps. I have just added two pages, you can have as many as you want.
Step 6: Now let’s set up the sidebar. Go to the Layout section from the Dashboard and locate the Sidebar section in the layout.
I have one image (photo) and one text gadget (contact details) in my sidebar. There were some default gadgets in which I turned the visibility off as I didn’t need them in my sidebar. You can activate and deactivate any gadget by clicking on the ‘Pen’ icon on the right of each gadget.
You can add any gadget from the various gadgets that Blogger provides. Just click ‘Add a Gadget’ under ‘Sidebar’ and select anything you want. For example, you can select ‘HTML’ gadget to add the embed code for a Youtube video if you want to display the video in the sidebar. Here is my sidebar –
Step 7: So far we have addressed the header, pages, and the sidebar. Now let’s do something about the center portion of the website – Featured posts & Blog posts (updates). To get these, let’s go back to the dashboard, click on ‘Posts’ and then click ‘New Post’.
Posts Editor is similar to the Pages editor we have seen above. It has many formatting options that you’ll find in a word processor. You can add multiple elements like text, image, video, etc.
For the Featured post, which will be permanently shown on the top of the front page (below the pages menu), try to convey what you do in your business and your USP in the title, and in the first few words of the description. Because this is what will be visible on the homepage.
Once a user clicks on the Featured post, you can then show him/her a brief overview of your business, timings, contact details, portfolio, pricing, references, and other details. Mention all the details that’ll help them to do business with you.
When you finish this first post (featured post) hit ‘Publish’ on the right corner and you’ll immediately find the title, photo, and a few words from the description appear on your front page.
To make it a featured post that’ll be highlighted prominently, go to the Layout section and edit (click the pen icon) in the Featured Post block.
Here, do two things. Disable to ‘Use most recent post’ (as the featured post) as we want the same post to be highlighted on the front page. Then, select the featured post from below. Since we have published only one post, select the title of that post. Then hit save. If you see the website by clicking ‘view blog’, you’ll now find the featured post there.
Actually, this post will stay in the same place although you publish many updates (new posts) later on. Those newer posts will keep moving below (or to the next page). This Blog posts section appears below the featured post once you publish new posts.
I have published two more posts – property updates, just for demostration purposes.
Step 8: I did another thing. I changed the settings to display only 2 posts on the front page. These two posts go below the featured post and now only the latest two updates will be shown there. You can select any number you want.
You can access the settings from the ‘Dashboard’. It’s below ‘Theme’ and above ‘Reading List’. From here, you can change many global settings of the website. You can change the title, you can assign a custom domain (as mentioned in the beginning), you can invite other people to become the author, you can setup comment moderation, and much more.
That completes my simple real estate website setup with pages, sidebar, and a blog section where you can publish regular updates about your business like new open properties, etc.
You can do much more using Google Blogger – all for free, and easily. Just visit the linked page, sign in with your Google account, and enjoy your new website.
The biggest advantage of having your own website is, it’s like your virtual visiting card which displays much more information than a visiting card or a brochure can ever do. The second advantage is, you stand a good chance of getting new leads from your area who search for related businesses/properties on Google.
With Google Blogger, you can create websites in any domain – not just real estate. In fact, you can create multiple websites with a single Google account!
